front tank issues

ok, so i have always used the rear tank for my short drive, now i am driving a much longer distance every day and decided that i would try to use my front tank not knowing if it would work or not. so when i unscrew the cap the first thing i notice is that there is no metal flapper thing on there. i proceed to fill the tank which according to the guage is empty, 15 dollars later and the pump has clicked off multiple times but i might have been filling it too fast, after words the rear tank is full but the front tank still says empty!!! i have idled the engine in the parking lot for 10 minutes and the engine doesnt die so it must still be getting fuel even tough the guage doesnt work and the fuel flapper is missing, is it possible the float has a hole in it and sunk to the bottom

no i would say the sending unit is bad. i have had 2 sending units go out in the past. pretty easy fix once tank is out or bed is off, which i prefer to pull bed. good luck with it, p.s. if the back tank works just drive around on ur front till it runs out or bogs then switch to ur back. good luck with it hope this hepled
