I was putting the passenger side, outside door handle on today , and it got me thinking about all the people that have used it . Now it is easy to think about the drivers , They are usually the owner , and on a 3/4 ton with V8 and standard trans , He or she would most likely be manual laborer , someone that worked hard and long . But what about the passengers ? Would they be sons or daughters , wives or girl friends ,hired help, Friends , or partners ? Maybe a local drunk that helped out for a little cash . Could be a hunting or fishing buddy . I would like to know their story's . Then I wonder what the truck was used for . AS I live in an area known for moonshine , maybe it hauled corn , or shine . Cotton was also big here years ago . I can picture it with a big bale of cotton in the back . Maybe I should make a fake cotton bale to put in it for shows . At some point someone had put a trailer hitch on the bumper , and there where a lot of old pit passes from the local dirt tracks under the seat . I am thinking it hauled a race car . Every time I turn the key I think of those that went before me .
This can be a fun post to think about. I know my F3 hauled cow manure, bulls & cows to market and anything else needed on the last farm in cook county il (which is Chicago). I got the info from the only owner before me son. He said it never really went anywhere but to the stock yards, grain elevator and feed store. The only ones to drive it were his dad and him. The Mom did not have a license so I would assume they were probably the only passengers also. Have fun
Yeah, Dave, there was probably a lot of things went on in these old vehicles that we're better off not knowing about.
On the top of the cab on Blue was hand brushed lettering that said, "Muskie 72" with an arrow pointing forward. Thanks for the reminder.
If my f1 could talk it would probably have picked up a lot of bad language from me while working on it. I've come up with a few new words since owning this thing.
Last po before me was a drunk who hauled cinder blocks. Lot's of under the influence repairs and a beat up bed. I'd love to know the po's before him, however.
My '52 F6 had one owner before me, my uncle Ole. It worked on the wheat farm where my dad was born its entire life. I know every driver it's ever had. My cousin enjoys telling me about every dent and modification and adventure it has had.
I confess I have lusted over this truck for over 50 years.
If it could talk I'd love to know the secrets bored drivers told it over the many years.
