300 intake manifold
Thought all the carburetor style intake manifolds were all equal,
The bolt pattern on the 82 does not match the Holley 1940.
Center to center bolt pattern on the 65 is 2.7".
Center to center bolt pattern on the 82 is 2.9".
At some time the stud spacing was changed from 2.7" to 2.9" to accommodate the YF & YFA carburetor.
Have an intake manifold from a 1979 300 with 2.9" dimension.
What year was the intake manifold carburetor bolt pattern changed from 2.7" to 2.9" ?
Take the "old" carburetor with the narrow spacing and lay the carburetor to EGR adapter gasket on the base of the carburetor, centering the large hole with the carburetor's throat. You will easily see how much material needs to be removed... just a little. Use a felt marker and mark the outer edges of the two mounting holes. With a small "rat tail" [round] file, hand file in the marked areas, being careful not to let the filings get inside the carburetor. Keep checking with the gasket and in about 15 minutes, you will be ready to mount the carburetor!
Some reserach indicates the Holley 1940 was used on 240 & 300 from 1965-1969.
