Using an Excursion 4x4 donor

Long time reader, first time poster. These forums have been a great resource for me, but I've run into the first question that a search didn't uncover a solid answer to.

I have a 99 2wd F350, and a 2001 4wd Excursion. Is the Excursion a viable donor vehicle for a 4wd conversion on the F350, or will I run into issues where necessary parts simply are not interchangeable? They're both V10s, so I'm not concerned with any differences between gas/diesel (if there were any even).

I fully realize that even if it works it would be a significant time investment, but the Excursion is coming apart either way since its body is trashed but its mechanics are sound, so it would be hugely convenient if I could use its parts for this.

I do believe everything will bolt right in the only thing that might be different are the drive shaft lengths..

Is the '99 2WD auto or stick?

How are you going to engage 4WD?

IIRC you will probably need the wiring harness from the EX.

THINKING OUT LOUD HERE!

Per Chris' query is the '99 a SC or CC?

You will definitely want the fuel tank from the ex as a reserve.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I suspect the drive shaft will indeed be something I'd need as the F350 is a long bed CC.

The F350 is a manual too, so that's another aspect that differs between them. As far as engaging the 4wd, I was hoping to use the Ex's electronic diff.

And yeah, that fuel tank would be nice.

Not sure from experience but the T-case may not mate up from auto to manual.

More questions than answers.

It can be done you just have to consider time, space and money to do it right.
