I doubt Mulally had any personal involvement in engineering decisions on this engine, as his role in the company was CEO. He was a great CEO though, probably one of the best CEO's in the nation. It was sad to see him retire in July. I hope Mark Fields does well.

The story goes that Mulally walked into a board meeting with arms full of oil dip sticks and asked "why no standardization"?
Do you really think that an engineer could keep his fingers out of engineering decisions?
i'm sure he had some say in the engineering of this engine pacnorwest how much no one will ever know . Fields will do just fine many of the board members and good staff will carry on . But yes the great CEO will be missed .
