A normal SC or Turbo can cost anywhere from 3K - 6K. I'm sure you could get more expensive than that if you also got an intercooler, t-timer, blow-off valve, and so on.
That looks kinda interesting. I'm gonna post that on this other site I go to and see what they say.
I agree with you, but I look at it differentyl, Ken. That is a universal kit. So their explanation and such is a generalization. In all reality, if it were me doin this, I would slap that baby in right behind the cat, run more pipe into a muffler, and have it exit in front of my rear tire. The in theory, its only about 2 ft from the header, max, and I dont think the lag would be so horrible it would take away from the ride...especially considering the turbos they are selling get full boost at 2200 RPms, I believe.
Joe...We were just pokin fun of ya cause the newest thread where you posted was the same thing... No hard feelings! Maybe Tom can give you a hug.
Garrett,
Your altered install plan would depend on the turbo impeller and bearings being capable of tolerating the higher heat they would be exposed to right after the cat.
My guess is if they were, the kit would call for such an install so as to minimize lag.
Either way, it is a novel idea but one that I assume is lacking in some regards in final application. Else they would be far more popular.
I completely agree...But from the looks of it, the turbo itself is something youd find anywhere. Apparently goo for boost from 2800-3000 to 5100 or so RPMs. I imagine this would be on import v6's mainly, in a conventional setup. If anything, I would imagine that the turbo would function the same as if it had mounted to the header itself. I guess thats something that an engineer would need to figure out
