Looks like one heck of a trip Byron. Thinking about doing some camping this weekend myself. Nothing exquisite. Just a local camp ground that I really like. We shall see.

Keep it coming!

It's been good Thomas. Headed to Luckenbach today for an all day hang out and then somewhere for BBQ tonite. Are you taking your new rig to go camping?

In other truck news I think my alternator is toast. The wire going from the alternator to the solenoid is getting very hot and I've noticed on my gauge that it sits just a little bit below the middle when it normally sits in the middle. I'm really kind of hoping I don't have to replace it on this trip but I guess I need to keep an eye out and see what happens. I thought about just replacing the cable thinking the cable was corroded and bad but I think the alternator is putting a load on it. If anyone has any input let me know!

Your camper is getting a trickle charge so it might be that every thing is OK? Check it with a volt meter.

Unplug the camper and see how the gauge looks in the truck. The alternator makes the power. If the cable is getting hot, it's because the alternator is working and charging against a heavy load. It could be just your camper and lights, etc, but it could also be an issue with the batteries or inverter in the camper. Unplugging the camper from the truck should tell the story.

If unplugging doesn't solve the issue, then you may have a load on the system somewhere that is drawing a lot or it could, indeed be a bad cable. Look at the cable for any swelled, discolored, or shrunken spots. That's usually a pretty good indicator that there is something eating away the inside of the cable.

No, just the pop up. Aaron is buying my big one. no where to store it, and its a little big for a single guy like myself. Where as he has a family, itll be tons of room for them.

I completely agree Kevin. RRE is one such event, but not all of us can make that one. I am guessing it would be quite a good time had by all. I am with Travis in that I would help with a Texas event any way I could. Even though I am on the West Coast, we get back this way enough to see my wife's family and the Hill Country.
It will scoot down the road quick, fast, and in a hurry.. Like i said though, it's hurt right now. The engine is fine, but I'm losing tons of drive pressure from the bellows being blown apart. It still runs better than a lot of things with the busted uppipes though.

We can make it Dallas or something. That will save you a few hours. LOL.

That is my plan here this after noon. On a positive note, my battery ended up doing just fine. I cleaned the terminals with a wire brush, filled it with distilled water and reconnected it. I figured I'd give that a shot before I bought a new one. It turned out ok after getting a charge.

Yeah Nate, it's doing it with the trailer unhooked. The cable going is swelled a bit, has bad insulation, and is somewhat corroded. I thought it might be my trailer as well...until I drove it unhooked yesterday. I hope I don't have a load somewhere. Replacing the alternator is a much easier solution! LOL Thanks for the input...me and electrical

Ah, dangit! Letting it go already? I hear ya...makes sense and Aaron just scored for sure! You fixed all the leaks for him!

Sounds like you're having a good trip Byron! I'd like to get out there and see my little buddy (Travis) someday.
