I have GoRhino 6" polished SS wheel to wheel steps and they are great!
I'm 6'2" and Laurel is 5'4" and we can both get in/out easily. 6 in OE Xtreme Sidesteps
At this point I'm trying to decide if I want the bed access steps that have the 3 steps on each side or not. It seems like it would be handy to have that for a lifted truck. Also, one of the reasons I like the steps that are always out is that they will protect the side of the truck some from the road debris. I just know that I want polished or stainless and not black.
this may not be the route you want to take, but if you like your chrome factory steps, but need more grip, you could add some grip tape to them for additional traction, just wanted to throw that option out there for you.
A: generally there are no "best" anything, just what others like and recommend.
B: I am very satisfied with the Luverne stainless steel steps I originally bought for my 2002, now on my 2005. They still look great after 12 years and 2 trucks: Side Entry Steps
Wow they have alot of great stuff. What are their prices like?
Really like these grip steps, seem like they would be good for cleaning boots too. Grip Steps
If you like the look of no steps but still want to have steps then the amp research power step might be what you are looking for. I would like a set also if you happen to buy 2 sets and want to give one away!
This is a good step if in warmer weather. Froze up on me too many time to remember last winter.

I had my steps "Rhino" sprayed. This gives extra grip. Make the steps basically bullet proof.

They weren't cheap, but not high-priced either. I think the stainless steel ones I got were around $350 12 years ago. Those grip steps look awesome, I could have used them back when I spent a lot of time off road and in the woods.

Yea that's what I was curious of too if they could freeze up after getting packed with snow and ice. Also, I don't like the idea that they don't do anything to protect the side of the truck. I'll probably go with a nerf-style bar as I feel it fits the look of the truck better. I want to get away from the step-style bars as I feel they make the truck look dated. Also, I'm definitely wanting to get a stainless steel or polished style along with getting a wheel to wheel style, preferably with the 3 steps but will settle for 2 if the styling is right.

Which ever you decide. Post a few pictures. Good luck in your search.

yeah well Im sure you get what you pay for with these. It looks like most of there stuff mounts up the same. Do your steps mount to the body or the frame? I have a single cab with a utility box, but I was hoping to get a pair that goes all the way to the rear tire for bed access.
they mount to the factory frame points, relatively easy and have never needed adjusting.

Yikes, but then again if I were to get a 2015 equivalent of my truck it would be twice what I paid 10 years ago.
At this point I'm probably gonna go with the N-FAB stainless wheel to wheel bars. I'm sad they don't have the bed access step, but it's not a huge deal. Usually I just stand on the tire and get into the bed anyways. I was able to find them for about 480 shipped which is far cheaper than many of the other bars I've been looking at. Iron Cross ones are almost 700 dollars for stainless and they weren't wheel to wheel. Go Rhino ones were over 700 dollars for stainless wheel to wheel.
I ended up ordering the stainless N-FAB wheel to wheel bars. Found them for 460 shipped. The only other good option I had found were the Go Rhino Dominator D3, but they were 600 with shipping if I got the two-piece modular bars and even more for the one-piece. 140 bucks is enough of a difference that I can deal without the bed step plus I like the look of the N-FAB bars more.
Love them. They were exactly the look I wanted, plus they're very well made and the hardware they come with is awesome. The step portion works good, but it's not made for you to put your entire foot in, more like just to step onto with the front of your foot and then hop in. These are definitely made to be a nerf-bar and tuck up tighter, not a full running board like the factory setup. Most likely I will end up grip taping the step pad area just to give it a little more traction. This seems to be a common issue with any step though, even the 1000 dollar AMP steps along with the factory ones. I like the fact though that they run wheel to wheel, makes things look much more finished. I wish I could have gotten a set with the 3rd step, but the only place that had them in stainless was another 140 dollars plus they were a 2 piece step and it looked retarded. For the single piece version it was even more money.
