Why should you have to remove part of the PS unit? Get a set designed for your truck. That being said, I have some familiarity with PS/header problems. I think they are particular to the larger Bendix steering box. I don't think there is anything you can modify, short of converting to the Ford box, which I understand to be a lower quality unit. Again, I reccomend getting a set designed for your vehicle, engine combination. Try fordpowertrain.com , they seem knowledgeable. I should know more about their quality this weekk.
On that note, I though they stopped putting FEs in F150s in 76' ?

You are right about the fact that they stopped putting them in in 76' but i guess somebody swaped a 390 in it..Regarding the P/S the headers I got are for a 76' which shouldnt be a problem with fitament..When i took off the old ones (they were totally rotted out) I just used a sawzall because I figured it would be pointless to even try to take the bolts off and now i have to take the heads to a machine shop and have em' drill out the old bolts..We tried and went through too many drill bits..But I remember that they look exactly like the new set of headers I got through JEGS..So the P/S has 2 pipes then a semi large gap then the other 2 pipes and the D/S is normal (every pipe is evenly spaced apart.) The P/S header has to come in between the mount while the D/S does not..The mount is off right now and I now await for the heads to be done at the machine shop..
