Yes, this conversion is so easy its rediculous. The kit comes with everything you need minus a screwdriver and ignition wrench. It even has a little plexiglass gapper so you get it set right. Easier than installing new points.
Throw the points in the glove box for an easy roadside patch to save a tow bill. I'm not saying pertronix is bad, but PLease Don't bump the language filters happens

Pertronix recommends that you use a low resistance wire so as to prevent spark jumps or misfires. They sell a set of 7 mm low ohms resistance wires for about 45 bucks. I installed them on my motor and have had no problems. Good luck!!!
I used the Ford Racing 9mm wires on all my V-8's. The Pertronix equiped motors got either a Pertronix flamethrower coil or a Mallory coil. Also recommend swapping the distributor cap to the big style post type. You can buy the adapter, rotor, and cap from your local parts house.
I've read about the Pertronix set-up and am confused about the cap, and spacer. What is wrong with the one I've got and which one is the one to get? Some say to get a flat cap from a Mustang but does any body know the part numbers so all that I have to do is tell the guy what numbers I want and write a check without playing 20 Questions? And the spacer, does this come with the cap or is it separate,or is it with the Pertronix.
And lastly, after the dust settles what will this cost me, without a new coil or wires?
You don't need to replace the cap and rotor unless they are worn. I am running the small cap and it works fine.
One note, if you read the pertronix instructions, it says that the module needs to have 12v supplied to it. If you are running the stock setup with the resistor (ballast) wire in place then you need to hook it to a 12v source. I used the pertronix coil that doesn't require the ballast resistor and bypassed the resistor wire. The whole setup cost me less than $100 (maybe $90 or so). Love it!
By "whole setup" I just meant the Pertronix "Ignitor I" which is the distributor module and the Pertronix "Flamethrower" coil. I got them from a Mustang shop in Virginia.
Do a search on Pertronix in all the forums here. I've posted many times (including other links), and there are others who have had great success.
The worst part on my install was finding the resistance wire and figuring out where to bypass it. Other than that it was one of the easiest, most effective upgrades I've done.
Advantages??? NO POINTS! No bothering with points burning out, setting point gap and dwell, replacing points and condensor. Spark plug gap can be set wider (I forget how wide I set mine, but it is considerably wider than stock). Easier starting, smoother idle. I don't know about increased HP becauase I made a lot of changes at the same time. I tend to be skeptical of claims of HP increases anyway (too many ricers claiming 20 hp from the new Neuspeed window stickers). Like I said, I think the pertronix upgrade is one of the best price performers out there. Cheap, quick, and easy...
This from a previous post of mine:
Great prices on the net! I bought mine from VAmustang. I eliminated shipping costs by picking it up in person. I replaced the coil when I installed the ignitor. Took me a while to do as I had to bypass the resistor wire (the ignitor needs 12 v), but overall a VERY easy, cheap, and effective upgrade. If you need a new distributor, then go with one of the other options.
Put the Pertronix in thurs, drove 600+ miles to and from the Bloomsburg jambo, and the difference is night and day! Huge improvement over the points. Better starting, throttle response worth the $74.
