Shift linkage problem

Original c6 Trans in my 88 f250 was shot. Found a "decent" one at a wreckers and installed it. Everything was going smooth as butter until I went to attach the selector linkage. The trucks linkage won't quite line up with the new Trans. Even when I loosen the slide adjuster underneath. They're about a quarter inch apart. Do some c6's have different shift patterns or geometry? Should I replace the shifter arm with the old one from the original Trans? How do I go about resolving this problem.

somewhat got all the linkage to line up. can't quite find park but i managed to get the truck running on the hoist. now the transmission only has reverse. no matter where the selector on the transmission is pointing.

are the shift arms the same? is the linkage bracket the same? Reverse only? might be a bad trans or sat too long so the valve body might be gummed up.
