I have a 96 with a 8.8 rear end I am looking for a way to make the drive shaft about 2 inches longer cause of a trans swap I did a while back. I been driving it it does good just don't want to chance it to long. And I'm having nothing but trouble finding one.
Best to find a driveshaft shop and have a new tube built for it….
Ditto--cheap, effective, BALANCED and accurate. Then prime and paint it, so it doesn't get rusty.
When I got my '72 F-100 (totaled, a former phone company truck) it had been picked up with a forklift (this was in the late-'70's), and the driveshaft was badly bent. The driveshaft company just cut the ends off of my driveshaft, welded in a new tube (of the same length, but they have tape measures--they'll get it right--LOL), and I was off to the races. No headaches.
I paid $228 last spring to get both driveshafts shortened on my Bronco, so $114 each. Lengthening could be slightly more since they'll need to add material. I don't know if I got a volume discount doing 2 at once either.
