Well dang I am bummed. My truck came in today but when the dealer ordered it they messed up an axle code and it came in as a dually not single.
Anybody use a dually as a daily driver? I own one now but it is an occasional driver/tow vehicle. I am going to go look at it but will probably have them reorder.
pit falls are carwash problems...need to use the "big truck" wash places.
parking is more challenging due to the wider rear width.
More tires to deal with. your inside dually tries wear faster than outside dually. check your spare fro some reason ford likes to ship SRW spares for DRWs. it will cost you about 150 to get a DRW rim for the spare and have the tire mounted.
the extra weight of the DRW vs the SRW wasnt a problem during registration since i camper capped mine and got passenger plates that way.
My 2nd ford was a dually daily driver, I loved it, never had any crazy problems, I would use that against them. You know the dually more expensive, and retain the value better than a SRW, scream up a storm, tell them you were planning on using the truck for your vacation and see if they will knock acouple grand off it. You can Easily have it converted if it's really a SRW that you want.
I've had both as a daily driver & work/tow rig. Dually rode worse unloaded, wife didn't like driving it cause she was always worried about tearing a fender off. Other than that, it was pretty much an even wash between dually/single as far as that goes.
Long term, the dually should retain value better. My parents recently sold a 2012 Duramax CC/LB 4x4 that was SRW & got bit on trade in. Every dealer told them they wanted SB/SRW or LB/DRW, nobody wanted a LB/SRW.... My truck is a prime example of that, it's a SC/LB SRW & I picked it up for several grand less than comparable SC/SB SRW simply because it had a long bed and no duals, which is fine with me for what I do with it.
like speakerfritz said more tires to deal with... more $$$ to spend.... I would have them send it back, especially if you already have a DRW like you mentioned. Ask for free goodies anyways, that's quite the inconveince if you ask me. Id be mad!!!
Don't feel bad when I order my 2011 the dealer did the same thing, they reordered what i requested the first time but it took another two months to get in, I was not a happy camper to say the least. best of luck getting it straighten out.
One other down side to a dually--they will hydroplane easier than singles. Also with the 20 in wheel option on SRW the load limit is approaching some of the other manufacturer's DRW products.
if you want a SRW then make the dealer reorder and don't even consider taking that DRW. The whole reason to order a truck is to get EXACTLY what you want and not have to take a compromise.

I agree 100%.
Don't talk yourself into buying it. If you would have wanted a DRW in the first place, you would have ordered one.
Well I went ahead and took it and so far like it. Truck is overall 16" wider than a single rear wheel. I will try not to bitch too much this winter went I have to hand wash it. I just didn't want to wait another eight weeks.
Thanks for all of your input.
