To dually or not to dually? That is the question

What do you guys think about the SRW VS. Dually? Keep in mind that I hardly ever tow. I just know that if I find a deal on a new truck and it ahs everything I want but has the 2 extra wheel in the back, will it be a dis-advantage for me?
Thanks

If your not going to tow much, stick to the srw. You are limited to where you can go with drw truck. I don't have a problem with mine but I can't park just anywhere. I hate to see trucks running dow the road with the dually fenders all smashed up. All that being said, I love my dually and would not have anything else, but I live way out of town and I pull lots of heavy loads.

I had a dually, heard the theories about being more stable with truck campers, did not like it. Could not take it thru most drive-thru bank tellers. Plus the cost of tires. Got rid of it, love my F-350 srw truck. It's just right for the 3000 lbs. camper.

If you drive around in parking lots often or make frequent U-turns, it can be a bit of a pain. You'll have to park out in the boonies (which is fine by me... less likely someone will ding me with their door). Doesn't perform quite as well in mud or snow. Other than that no big deal, and you'll get used to the extra width quickly.

I don't ever go through drive-thrus of any kind nor parking garages, and I avoid shopping centers as much as I can, so it's not much of a burden for me. Nice to have the widtch when you're hauling heavy or in heavy winds.

I'm planning to replace all six tires this weekend... not looking forward to the bill.

Stick to the SRW.. Your will get better fuel mileage. The DRW are geared lower. Although i guess you can still get a SRW with 4-10 rearend.. which probably would get pretty close to the same.. I did like mine when I had a camper but pull a 25 foot trailer now and wished I had a SRW.

I think it's purely your personal preference. A dually gives you extra stability for hauling and pulling heavy loads, plus they look better in my opinion. On the other hand, the 4.10 gears will lower mpg a little on the interstate, the two extra tires will cost more to replace and it takes an act of congress to make U-turns. I would'nt trade my 4X4 dually for anything!

when I bought my dually it really wasn't what I wanted but was a good deal,I have towed less than 10% of the miles I have put on it but have never regretted buying it
when I do tow it's nothing real heavy about 14k at most but it never knows anything is behind it
I have only recently decided I may replace it with something smaller like a SRW but would have to find the right truck before I got rid of this one

I would stick with a srw. Alot of duallies have 3.73 gears as well. Like said drive thru's can be a pain as well as small parking lots, but then again a CC LB isnt exactly breeze either. I personally dont like the looks of a dually. Remind me of an overwieght old woman. JMO. Oh, and they are terrible in the mud and badly rutted roads.

my dad's truck has the 3.73 pretty obvious someone had replaced it. it's an adventure to drive, especially backing up a trailer. His clutch has a plow spring in it or something, cuz its nearly impossible to move it smoothly from a dead stop . Cruises great on the highway though!

I will get a dually when I am 50+, now, the SRW is just the better option. If your in town a lot, it is the way to go. But, if it's an offer you can't refuse on a a Dually, do it.

Dont forget the extra 300$ for the extra 2 tires when you need a new set! No automatic car washes either. Ride is rougher, and the price is initially higher when you buy the drw too when you don't need it.

I wasn't looking for a dually when I found mine but I couldn't pass it up . I always wanted a dually and have plans to need it in the future (sidein and pull a car trailer )but thats a few years down the road I should have it the way I want it by then.

I can't see where the ride is any rougher if anything probly smoother
