When I am backing up and I turn the wheel as far as she will go to the right or left my bronco will stall. Does anyone have an idea why this happens and what I can do to fix it, I havent really noticed it happening when I am going forwards but I think it has once or twice, as I said seems to only stall when I cut the wheel hard to the left or right. Thanks for any help!!
The power steering pump has a pressure sensor that could be going or already went bad. It cuts pressure during turns so the engine doesn't stall. I'd check sensor. I couldn't tell you the exact location but I'd check it out.
The PSP sensor has no effect on hydraulic pressure - it only signals the EEC to raise the idle if the TPS is at idle position when the pressure gets high. If you're driving, it has no effect. It's installed in the high-pressure line between the pump & the steering box and has 2 wires.
I misspoke about the switch cutting pressure. Your right, but if the switch is not working it will cause idle problems or stalls if the switch is stuck open and the pump is drawing on the engine at an idle.
Originally posted by steve83 Could be a transmission problem then. Have you specifically tried leaving it in Park, keeping your foot OFF the gas, and turning the steering wheel?
Ok, foot off gas, left in park, turn whole way to the right makes a squeking chirping?? type sound, same sound when I turn her to the left and also when I leave her in neutral and do the same thing, she doesnt stall like when Im backing up. Power steering is full of fluid, also could someone describe again where I could find that sensor, right now I know where the power steering pump is, if someone could direct me from there and thanks for all your help!!!!
