2005 F150 5.4, Stuttering under acceleration, coil???

2005 F150 54000 miles

Ran fine when parked last Friday. Got gas Friday morning, drove 100 miles on it, (part of the time was in rain). Parked it in the driveway all weekend.

When I got in it this morning, it quit on me pulling out of my driveway. Started back up, and the spit and sputtered all the way to work (3 mile drive) quitting twice.

It idles fine, and if you can get it to a steady upper RPM it levels out smooth, getting there is the issues as it stutters severely.

My first thought is coil, as I had a similar issue with a 4.2 V6, symptoms were almost exactly the same but the V6 didn't go out overnight.

Running fine one day and like crap the next kind of has me scratching my head some.

Will coils go bad without any warning?

It came on when engine died, once I shut the key off and restarted it leaves...........

I am not sure if it is retaining any code or not.

Started it this evening, didn't want to start. It would rev high then die.

It took off and then drove fine all the way home. Then the minute I pulled in my drive the stuttering came back.

I noticed my fuel pump is chirping, it sounds like a wiper on a dry windshield. Any chance it is fuel related???

AGAIN NO ENGINE LIGHT!

There were several issues on these models that I think should have been recalled.

After my last visit at my local dealer over this issue I am less than pleased with FORD.

For as easy as it is to diagnose this problem , and for as cheep as it is to replace one. , I wouldn't think this is a big problem IMO .
