O2 Sensor Locations on 96 expl.
So the shop tells me I need all three O2 sensors replaced and the Catylitic converter, they also wink and say in this county the cat is still optional so if I removed the cat or banged it out (which I did) I would only need 2 of those 3 O2 sensors----But there is one in the side of the cat. Now I'm wondering if I replace the other 2 O2 sensors (the one in the cat is disconnected, yes it still runs alright) will they try to "read" the missing O2 sensor? Thus leaving me permanently with a the check engine light on, or will it just bypass the third as it's not connected. One more--can I replace them myself, the shop estimated 1/2 labor on each sensor and I have found most repairs taking 1/2 hour of labor or less I can do myself, BTW where are they located, can't seem to find Anything online showing a pic and there is nothing in my owners manual which I have read front to back.
Oops, forgot to mention it is a 4.0 V6 4 wheel drive, automatic with control track.
