Changing engines

Hey guys I bought a 04 f250 had 350kms on it the head gasket was leaking but when I pulled apart there was water damage in the cylinder, so I'm now trying to find a low mileage engine to put in there are some out there but I can get a 06 engine for the same price. Now since the newer 6L are better than the old ones would it be possible to make it work in a 04 chassis electrical wise.

Thanks

The newer 6.0L have their weaknesses! EGR cooler, HPOP, stand pipes and dummy plugs come to mind. They still need to have the head studs put in them to keep them from popping a head gasket if you are going to be aggressive with it.

The newer ones have better hpop but would need to update dummy plugs, standpipes and stc fitting. It's not hard to put the newer motor in your 04. Does your 04 have the icp on the passenger valve cover?

Not really a big deal. As stated above may need to relocate icp wiring if you currently have an early 04.

Yes the ICP is on the valve cover, what about the ecu or ficm are they interchangeable? Is it worth it going this rout? I thought the head bolts were stronger in the newer engines?

You'll have to use the EBP sensor and tube from the 04 engine. Remember, when changing injectors, the 04 and 06 injectors are different (different part numbers).

The engine I'm looking at is complete with turbo it has 159kms on it from a wrecking yard for $3000cdn. Sounds like I should be fine installing this, I was going to install arp head bolts just to be safe and not sure to get egr delete or a egr from bulletproof. Thanks for all your answers.
