SPEED CABLE

1987 F 150 5 Lt

My speedometer gear inside the manual tranny wore down so the cable doesn’t reach, any ideas other than opening the tranny?

Same thing happened to my truck, I zip tied the cable to a crossmember (in my case by my tcase) and it makes contact now. That's just a quick bandaid fix. You should probably invest in a new speedo gear.
