I have an 01 F350 and I have been having a lighting issue for sometime now. My truck keeps blowing the fuse to my tail lights and running lights. It is only on the bed of the truck. Headlights still work also brake, turn and hazards work. If I change the fuse and let the truck sit the lights work fine, but if I drive the truck the first little bumb I hit the lights go out. I have a flatbed on this truck and it was on there when I bought the truck. I've had it for about 10 months and it was fine for about the first 9 months. I have been under the truck and fixed every wire that I've found. I just don't kow where to go from here. I hate electrical problems. I suck at it!! Could it be the wiring in my trailer light plug??
Could be....I pulled my trailer wiring harness apart a couple weeks ago chasing a similar problem. My jumper harness was fine, but somebody had done their own splice into the trailer plug wires for something beyond me (like the 7-pin and flat 4 connector weren't enough) and I found a connection that had fallen apart and corroded...causing a possible short. So dig into that and see what you find.
Other thing to try is pulling the trailer jumper harness out (connector up above the spare tire and down lower behind the plug. Then drive it and hit some bumps and see what happens. If it doesn't blow...then I would suspect corrosion/shorting at the plug.
I took the trailer lights plug apart and found an exposed wire!! I drove on the roughest road I found and they stayed on!! I hope this is the end on my search!! Thanks for the help Sowaxeman!!!

Glad you got it traced down. One thing about electrical issues is they take time to troubleshoot but often only a few seconds to repair.
