Mishimoto Radiator Help

Hey guys,
So I've tried a bunch of searching and could not find the info I am looking for (usually happens when I can't think of the right search term).

Anyway, so I am need of a new rad, and I would like a Mishimoto. However, they say they are only compatible with the trucks that have the quick disconnect a/t lines. Well, being and 03/04, I have the threaded lines. The Mishimoto installation vid shows removing the fittings from the old rad and putting 'em on the new one.
Does anyone know if the fittings between the quick disconnect/threaded connectors are the same size? I'm sure it can be adapted with brass fittings or something. Just wanted to get some input on this.

Many thanks!

cant you just swap the tranny cooler line to the newer ones if youre that badly wanting the Mishi radiator? cant be that expensive really. it only runs from the filter housing and the cooler. just a thought

^^^ that was my first reaction to his post, too. The remote trans filter should be the same, so put in the two hard lines from an 05+ truck and everything would fit, right?

I thought about that, and I was able to find those part numbers too. The effort is still appreciated tho'.
Yes, the main cooler and filter sides are just hose connection, so not a big deal there. The issue I had is the quick disconnect fittings. Maybe I'm just being stupid, but those are the parts that I could not find. It looks like they are included with the radiator...

I've been trying to find the size of the thread of on the trans lines and I could then just adapt from that to the M18x1.5 that mishi has on the rad. $5 adapters instead.

Ya, I know what you're thinking, "dude wants a Mishi and is worried about cost of incidentals." Extended warranty is paying for the rad.
With that, I'm not really married to the Mishi, just seemed like better cooling.

Thank you kindly for the input tho', i was just about ready for the thread to die.

Well... For any other schleps out there, like me, that are trying to figure out if they can get one with minimal effort:
The threaded transmission line fittings on a 2003/2004 Ford 6.0 will work in the Mishimoto Radiators.

Knowing that the Mishi takes M18x1.5 thread, I took out one of the fittings from my rad and put it in something that was the same thread. My truck is now officially down until i get the new rad, but it fits.

I hope that was descriptive enough to hit Google because I, for one, could not find much on this.

Sorry for not responding to your inquiry prior to your discovery! As you revealed, our radiator is designed to work with both the push-on and threaded transmission cooler lines. The fittings from the old radiator will need to be swapped to the Mishimoto unit! Let us know how the installation went!

Thanks

Thanks!
It went well. The issue I had was the information that came from you guys was what said it may not work. I worked with your support team (which was a pleasant experience) to figure out that it would work, and then have your information updated. Since then, the statement of only being compatible with push on fitting has been removed from your web site.
I'd have to says it's nice to see that you guys listen to your customers.

I need help as well....I've read this thread and I can say that the fittings from my 03 f250 super duty WILL NOT fit into my new mishimoto radiator. I just spent the long dollar from Ford for all brand new lines and they do not fit my new radiator. The fittings from the original radiator are just to small and don't catch any threads at all. Plus the hole in the center of both transmission bungs is only 7/32. Does this make any sense to anyone? The factory radiator has the exact same size hole as the Ford lines......Those are 1/2 inch. Sees to me the mishimoto radiator is going to hinder fluid flow substantially compared to the stock radiator. Did I receive a bad radiator? Serial # 44491244. Man, I really need help here, anyone?

Can you post a picture? Particularly of the trans lines and the cooler inlets in the Mishimoto radiator? You're the first person I know of to have an issue with the Mishimoto radiator for the 6.0.

Great. Last post from 2016 and no followup. I too have a mishimoto radiator and the existing fittings are ever so slightly too large for the threaded connections welded into the radiator. This is my daily driver, a 2005 F-350 with a ZF-6 transmission. I have to pay someone to take me to Ford to correct this so any suggestions?

I found some info about alternate fittings from Ford #3c3z-7d273-aa but I can't find any attributes for this. The Mishi radiator oil cooler connection is a M18x1.5. Surely I am not the first person in Christendom to install a Mishimoto Radiator into a manual transmission ford.

The fittings from the old rad should have fit the new one. I have not put one of these in a manual trans truck. Here is an alternate source for the quick connect fittings that was recently posted in another thread.

auto tranny fluid lines to the external filter (push-lock line fittings) 1/2 inch Quick Connect fittings"

Dorman 800-617: steel not aluminum like the OEM ones, but they are an exact fit (not that I am a Dorman fan, but this is all I have found).

I know it should, but it clearly does not. It is ever so slightly larger and will not go in the hole. I just looked up the dorman stuff. Thanks for confirming it will fit, I was reluctant to shell out the $40 or so since I have to buy two of them.

Is a cooler really needed for the ZF? I beat the bottom tank of the old radiator apart and took the oil cooler out of it and connected it all back and hung it at the bottom of the radiator with some zip ties just to keep it all connected.

Best I can tell I have replaced a cheap aftermarket radiator with a not so cheap aftermarket radiator and the former is not OEM specs.

No aftermarket is to OE specs. They can’t afford it.

yeah, the previous aftermarket radiator you’re replacing is the problem. Several people who were replacing their radiator with Mishimoto ran into the same issue you did...the aftermarket radiator they had did not conform to the specs of the Ford radiator for the trans line connectors
