A couple questions about replacing an E4OD with a C6

I put this up in the transmission and clutch section last week with not one reply so I guess I'll ask here, hopefully with better luck.

I just got a 94 f250 4x4 with 7.3 non turbo. The po had told me that he used it to plow his dirt driveway in the winter and grade it in the spring with the plow. He beat the trans pretty good but the engine still runs excellent. I just replaced the glow plugs with Motorcraft ZD-9 glow plugs.

I have a C6 from an 1986 f250 4x4 with about 2000 miles on it that i would like to put in place of the e4od. The c6 came out of a parts truck I have so I have the wiring harness for it. I found on here (I think) somewhere that someone has done it but cant find it again. I know the crossmember needs to be moved forward, c6 needs a vacuum line to it, and obviously the harness needs to be changed.

What else do I have to look for? How would I rewire the two harnesses together to make it work?

Any suggestions will help.

Thanks

Off what engine was the C6 taken? If it's off a gas engine, it won't fit (different bellhousing patterns), and I'm not sure if there are bellhousing differences among the diesels.

Regardless, you're going to have all sorts of issues, as the E4OD is totally electronically controlled, and the C6 is totally vacuum controlled. The computer on your '94 isn't going to like it.

It would be a lot of aggravation for a lesser tranny.

jroehl, It came off an 86 6.9l diesel. I was just throwing the idea around about the swap but will probably end up replacing with the correct tranny.
