Yeah, I was getting discouraged. It took a lot longer than I thought and we had lots of up's and down's but she's done and I'm enjoying life!
We did a frame off resto but restored back to original; stock steering, stock brakes, etc. We did breath on the old 272 with a 306 kit from John Mummert and a few other goodies. I've done the entire shell in B-Quiet Ultimate sound deadner and covered that with three layers of thermal insulation; the difference is amazing. It will be even better once the floor is done.
Ya know what's fun? The smiles and waves and appreciation I get for just driving down the street. It's starting to feel like it was really worth the effort. LOL
Here's a picture of the sound insulation. It has a very strong adhesive backing and I found cutting it in smaller sections made it much more manageable. I've done the whole shell and the only noise I hear now is from the floor.
Then I went over that with three layers of regular household insulation from Lowes. It's bubble-wrap type stuff with silver on both sides. I brushed on contact cement and cut into smaller sections for easier application. It's light and inexpensive and should hold up well.
We also painted the whole shell interior with sound deadening paint.
