Question 6.0 Problems

OK not starting flame throwing I have a V10 and love it but was thinking of getting an Excursion with the 6.0 because I now have a 10,000lb camper and the 4 speed auto is driving me nuts. even though the motor has power the trans hunts.
Well I went to the dealer and asked about the 6.0 and a friend that works there said they were not going to make anymore for an undisclosed time due to problems. What are those problems? Then I was at a campground and the guy next to me asked what MPG I was getting I said 8.2 running 65 if I try 75 I and in the 6's. He had the same truck, Crew short box 3 :73 but with the 6.0 and 5 speed auto. He said with his 7.3 he got 13 - 14 which is what I got with mine but with the 6.0 he is getting 6.5 tops and Ford said it was normal. Has anyone else had the same problems and was the Excersion made with the 7.3 and 6 speed because I may look for that?

6.0 Problems

I am not too sure i understand your post. The 6.0 is still in full production, well once shut down gets over. There are still plenty fo 6.0L getting dropped into ford trucks though if that is what you are asking.

6.0 Problems

6.0L engine production has been shutdown due to contractural vacation shutdown. There are no unusual problems that I am aware of.

6.0 Problems

I´m towing a 13k lb fifthwheel. We´re retired and traveling fulltime. We get 11 mpg towing at 60 mph and 10 to 10.5 at 65. The truck was built in early June, if that matters. 3600 miles on it now. Ours tends to just up and stall, as I noted in another thread, and doesn´t do better than 13 to 15 solo on the highway but gets good mileage towing. With our 99 F350 V10 we averaged 8.2 towing at 60, 7.5 at 65.

6.0 Problems

I'm new to the diesel world. I purchased a 6.0 diesel about one month ago. running empty medium trips at moderate speeds, <70 mph, mileage goes up to 19-20. with fifth wheel and jeep in tow, (13,000#'s), traveling at same speeds, mileage drips into the single digit range. Never below 8.5, but averages around 9. It shows great power to maintain speed now (1700 miles on truck) , but it no longer gets the load moving well. It also wants to buck or chug at low speed. It has been into the dealer once, didn't help much, and it is now worse. It goes into the dealer again today for more diagnostics.

I am very frustrated! Especially since reading about all the similiar problems everyone else is having, and the lack of any "cure".
