Rear Bumper

Something is amiss between my rear bumper and license plate.

How should this be?

I can offer this up for consideration...

Here's me and my brother standing in front of our house in south Texas. My dad's 65 stepside (yes I know it's not the correct term) F100 in the garage is just a few years old.

He either has his plate on the bumper or below the tailgate under the RD in FORD (blow up the photo). I can't tell.

It looks like I have an extra set of holes that will allow me to move the taillights up.

If I flip the mounting brackets and swap sides, I think the plate will sit above the bumper, but the tail lights will be much higher.

I don't think this is a factory bed, the sides are to smooth for 50 years old.

Tail lamps mounted in wrong location, should be located higher up.

Left "shield" tail lamp includes license plate lens, utilizes a bracket (B5A-13406-A / 1955/66 same) to mount the license plate.

If you look closely there is another hole 2in higher up to mount the tail lamps to.

I was guessing that hole was there for a reason.

The tail lamps are currently mounted to the holes that hold the tail gate hinge on.

I will move them and use the top tail gate hinge hole and the unused hole above it and see how that works out.

The tail lamp mounting brackets also curve down, I could flip them over and swap sides so they curve up if I need some more room, but I will relocate them first.

Thanks Bill.
