Why are they so "terrible" and natorious for crapping out? I have to replace mine, just woundering what you guys thought i should do, everyone tells me that these things are crap, infact, one shop said they wouldnt sell remans anymore cause they suck so bad. Then they tell me they want $250 for a new one.... yeah... right. Im gonna convert the system to a R134-A, and was woundering if a guy could get away w/ using any other compressor. Are there any others that will bolt up? Any suggestions on what to do? Just need help.
Not sure of the year of the year but sometime in the 90's some engineer decided to coat the inside of the the system with a film that most shops now call "black death" one because the film is black and 2 because after years of use the film deterioriates and completely clogs the sytem especially the orfice. It can be cleaned but a short time later it's clogged again and it boils down to just replacing the system with a new one.again i'm not sure if your model applies to this.Maybe someone else can elaborate.
I replace more FX15 than the older models. Ford cant get their act together on Air Conditioning. They now have a whole new compressor, and only time will tell.
More times failures reoccur because the fools working in independent shops dont take the time to properly flush the crap from the lines, replace orifice and accumulator, and filter flush. So remaining crap that is trapped in the condenser and lines comes back to haunt you. Ford offers a 12month 12000 mile warranty so they tend to do a better job than some shop that throws on a compressor and takes your money and runs hiding after thier 90 day warranty or less passes and you endure all their written and unwritten exclusions to cover thier butts.
