5R110 Help

I have a 2005 F-250 xl with a 5.4L with a auto tranny 5R110. Engine needs to be rebuilt but I have no faith in these engines. My question is will a 4.6L bolt up to my tranny and has anyone done it yet? Looking forward to feedback.

Yes but if you want more durability go with a non-VCT Windsor 2V or a 3V V10. Appropriate wiring harness of course.

What makes you have faith in a 4.6L over the 5.4L? What killed your original engine?

Here on the island 5 out of 6 5.4L have had a lot of problems. The 4.6L having been holding up pretty good and a friend of mine has one I can get for couple of bucks. So I was just checking to see if it can bolt up to the 5R110 tranny. Any other ford motors that can bolt up?

The two engines are absolutely identical in every way with the exception of stroke. Virtually everything except the block and crank are identical.

I believe a 4.6L engine would bolt up to the 5R110, but it will feel badly underpowered in something as heavy as a Super Duty.

I was thinking about that also. The guys from destroked have a lot of info but it would cost me around 10k and I'm not looking to spend that.

Cheapest route is 5.4L 2V with a tuner to turn off the check engine light because VCT is absent.
