I was on "vacation" in Plymouth, MA up until this AM...So with the announcement of dyno day 2 at minuteman....I once again vote for the september meet to be at minuteman trucks on dyno day 2.....Which is the 20th.....Supposedly there are some very tasty deals going to be happening that have yet to be announced that I am definitely interested in...
In response to "ziva's" pinion seal....I've done them. Lift rear of truck, remove nut seal and crush collar. install new seal and slide crush collar on, then yoke, then thread the nut on, use a NEW nut do not reuse the old one!!! You need a dial indicator torque wrench to set preload by measuring the turning torque of the pinion (in other words tighten nut until you reach the prescribed turning torque necessary to engage the ring gear). The way I do it is with my impact gun (several people will warn against it but you have to know your tool's quirks before you attempt this...). I tighten the nut until it just seats on the collar, then one quick sharp blow at a time while checking turning torque until it reaches spec. I've done over 30 this way...never had a problem.

Sound like you are volunteering at least your union management skills on this one.
I'd host a meet for this but unfortunatly I'm busy until about mid Sept.

Dan...no union management skills here...laid off to the street this time. I've got a year of callback rights so it's not so bad...I'll find something quick. The vacation was more like time away from home if you will...I spent the week drinking beer, grilling food, and playing chauffeur to damn near everyone...
