Oil Pump

I have a 2002 F250 7.3
I had a oil leak so I pulled out my oil pump and replaced all the O-rings, I re-installed the pump and made sure I torqued the bolts to specs. At first the truck would turn over but not start, it almost started once and now it won't turn over at all. when it almost started I noticed smoke coming from the back end of the oil pump. Does this mean I need to replace my HPOP now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a loose nut on the starter and it was arching and not making a good connection.
