So...I put in a new oil cooler last week and am having troubles with the turbo building pressure now. Truck runs with no other troubles, I can even hear the turbo whistle when driving, but I get no boost. It is a 2004 F250 with an 03 built engine. Any ideas what could be my troubles? is this an exhaust side problem or should I be looking at the intake side? Thank you in advance for any assistance you guys can offer.
^^^x2. The Ypipe connection seems to be the most difficult to make seal! Do you hear an exhaust leak? If not, start the truck cold, and feel around each clamp for a leak.
If you didn't, you might put some anti seize around the inside of the clamp. It helps the clamp squeeze tighter... Plus, makes it a bit easier to take off the next go round.
That's where it was once I loosened everything. Took the clamp off last, so it may have settled into place with everything else loose. Not sure, but hoping this does it.
Question on the exhaust pipe out, would it cause problems if it is off a bit? Not an expert on turbos but I wouldn't think it could stop you from making boost if it was miss-aligned. Just getting prepared in case this doesn't fix it. Have a trip planned for monday and I'm starting to question my mechanical abilities!
That up-pipe is aligned correctly, so you may have a crack in the up-pipe. Loosen all three turbo mounting bolts before you tighten the up-pipe vee clamp. I'm going to bet that you have a seized unison ring inside the turbo limiting boost. I mean, if I did, why shouldn't you? Fits the symptoms, aside from you having the turbo out for other work.

I checked and re-checked every connection that I took out to do the oil cooler...could not see anything out of place. It is still not building pressure, so the wife has convinced me to seek outside help. Thank you all for your input, but some times you need to call in the pros.
