Sending unit
2003 f250 I need to change my sending unit and have found out I have to buy the whole thing which includes the pump. 1) is this true?
2) I cannot find one video specific to this repair.
3) is it true I have to pull the bed and why?

Is this a diesel or gasser? Only reason I ask is that on my 05' diesel I took it out and disassembled it cleaned it and it has been working great for 5 months now. No you do not have to pull the bed. You can and some guys do. Up here in michigan the bed bolts usually don't come out after a few years. You do either have to lower the tank or pull the bed. If you run the tank low and use a jack it's not that bad if a job. Just a matter of if you want to work under the truck or would rather undo a couple more bolts and stand up.

No reason you have to pull the bed, but you do have to remove the wiring, fuel lines, and vapor tubes so it's up to you to decide if you can reach them all from underneath before the tank is entirely dropped. I took the bed off to get to my pickup (diesel), but dropping the tank is the method in the shop manual.
