I put the fan through mine
I was surprised how cheap it was to replace in Australia only $570 aussie dollars considering the size of them
You guys in the states should be able to get them a lot cheaper than here in australia
In my opinion, plastic radiator tanks have absolutely NO place in a heavy duty truck...
Not sure why radiator end tanks care if they're in a pickup truck or otherwise. A heat cycle is a heat cycle, and these systems are rated for the same 16 PSI that the system on a Fiesta is.
Either way they don't seem to fail that frequently. My '00 Excursion had what appeared to be the original radiator when I sold it a year ago. In fact my 17-year-old Lincoln also has what appears to be the original radiator with plastic end tanks.
Yep, they fail, so did the old ones and most of those I took in were rarely fixable. Used to be able to get a new tank crimped on but the low price of replacement radiators has pretty much killed off the radiator repair business. There hasn't been a shop around here for years.
Just replaced one on a chevy truck for the same reason, its a 95 with 170k on it and the radiator was original. The replacement was an aftermarket but only cost 140 bucks out the door and come with a lifetime warranty from Oreilly.
Ouch! 7 bills to replace a radiator, sounds like they really got you, hope at least it was OEM for that price. I would have changed it in the parts store parking lot even if I had to buy some tools to do it and still came away at less than $250!
