MY buddy has a 1989 F150 4x4 with the 4.9 6 cyl and 5 speed. He ran out of gas pulling into a fuel station a few days ago. After letting the fuel pump run and a half dozen sessions of cranking it over and letting it rest it finally stumbled back to life. Now he is complaining that it's difficult to start. it takes a few sessions of cranking and letting it rest to get it going again. Idk if that means there is still air in the lines or what. Any ideas on where to start with this? I believe the fuel filter has been replaced since, but nothing else.
I drive an '85 6.9 IDI diesel so whenever I've had this issue I can bleed from the schrader valve on the fuel filter block. Is there anything like this on the gas 4.9? Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm headed over to look at it again this evening.
