Drove for 25 miles. Park, try to restart to park truck at other place. Truck start but very rough. Did drive for 20 yards and truck stop. Try to restart no way. I think I do not hear fuel pump when I turn key and gas pedal fill completely empty, no any force to move it. Should I assume fuel pump or should check some sensors first? I have P0420 for a few weeks, not source of this problem. Drove truck before with P0420 for years. No other code. Any opinion?
Do we have PATS in keys? My truck is f250 99 LD.
Yeah my pickup have PATS. How check it?
the gas pedal pressure has nothing to do with the system.. You need to narrow down electrical or fuel problem. THe first thing to do it try the spare key and see if that starts. You could then check the spark and see if plugs are getting power. You could check the shrader valve on the fuel rail to see if there is fuel pressure present. push on the valve, or use a gauge. You can turn the key on and off and see if you hear the fuel pump cycle. It should run about 3 seconds each time you turn the key on.

Tried another key, nothing. Spark plug exist, checked with spark plug tester. Fuel pressure 0 at shredder valve, checked. I pull out another pump assembly at U pull. How empty my tank, I have that screen at bottom of pipe.
I just put a pump in a 2006 F150. It was easier to remove the truck bed and work on the tank from the top. The bed just has 6 bolts to hold it down. You disconnect the tail light harness, axle breather, gas tank fill hose, and lift the bed up. I used a small comealong at each corner on the tie down D ring in the bed. Park under rafters in garage, then roll truck forward 8 ft.
I did replaced fuel pump. It take me 5 hours because I was going slowly. Did all alone. Need not pull out fuel tank, just drop it. Front almost to floor and rear at small stand because that hose and cord back are shorter. It was enough space to pull out fuel pump. I get care to listen to sound when I turn key on (put my belt on), so I will know next time. Probably will give this job next time to pro or semi pro mechanic. Not willing lie down under car. Rather do my trim carpentry job and give someone from Craigs list 100 - 200$. Real shop planed to charge me 650$.
A floor jack is a must for this job unless you plan to push tank with a few gallons of gas with hands around.
