So I was turning left at a light, there was oncoming traffic so I had to wait for the red light to go. Light turns yellow then red and I go to clear the intersection. A jeep that was many yards back from the light, and had more than enough time to stop, and no doubt should have, blew through the red light almost broadsiding me. Now I was watching, and as soon as I realized what was going on, I punched the throttle to get out of the way. The jeep finally saw me and swerved hard... I don't know what the hell they were doing but they sure as hell weren't driving!!!
I only WISH there would have been a cop at that intersection to catch that person in the jeep.
That's exactly the scenario that happened to my friend. Imagine this. You're 17. You build a BMW and swap in a built up Ford 5.0L engine. A year of effort, pride, and joy, and on your very first time driving it... BAM. Done. No more. You're hit by a Mercedes that's doing 30kmh over the speed limit and running a red light who says, "... Just buy another one, not a big deal."

WHAAAT? A year?! Just buy another one?! NOT A BIG DEAL?! I don't like fighting. I don't condone fighting at all. BUT, in this case I would have hit that egotistacal twit so hard his Grandkids would have felt it.
He was too shaken up by it to be angry. He got out and sat on the sidewalk sobbing a little. His friend's little sister was in the passenger seat and somehow didn't get crushed. I kid you not, that car got T-boned at 50mph and every single door, trunk, and hood opened and closed like new. His drivetrain was perfectly intact so he used that and the $7,500 he got from insurance to build a mean Foxbody 'Stang... which he hates because it's nowhere near as well built as the BMW was.
Me witnessing how rigid that BMW was made was the reason I bought one for myself.
^ I know what you mean. I don't think I could have been angry either. Afterwards Ida been on a raging warpath but at the moment it just would have been heart sunken shock. That much time effort money and just the sentimental connection to the car can't be replaced.

Exactly! I'm restoring my bump soon and my mom's wondering why I don't just sell it. She's only looking at the numbers. Yes, I could double my money on it but it's my first truck and I've already got a lot of time spent on it. I'm never selling it.
I've got too much time and way too much money into mine. With more to go. Had I realized this is where I'd be when I started, I probably would have done things different. But hey, it is what it is. I'm so far into my truck I can't stop now. Or ever for that matter. Unless it burns to the ground, gets rolled off a cliff, or otherwise completely totaled beyond all repair, I see this truck in my future for a long time.
