1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild
#886
Another cold weekend comes to an end. This coming week is supposed to be over 32 during the day all week, but cold at night. I will have to bring the caliper mounting bracket to work so I can clean and paint it during lunch. Then I am going to get the wheel bearings packed and the rotors back on the axle. I have to clean and inspect the tie rod and get it prepped to paint. Now I just have to get it done!

Got out to the garage today, cool but it was so good to turn the wrenches. I got the Short side axle u-joint replaced and the Caliper Brackets mounted finally. And here are the pics to show what it looks like now.
Drivers side together.
Passenger side together.
Tie rod and cover cleaned and painted.
Tomorrow is a day off for me so I hope to finish the hubs, pack the bearings and get them installed. Then it will get mounted to the frame finally!

Thanks Pat.
So I did get back out to the garage this morning. I spent about 4 hrs working on the axle and I will let the pics speak!
New wheel Bearings, Lock out Hubs Installed.
Axle installed to this frame for the first time!
Frame able to be moved on its own wheels for the first time in forever!
I have one more plate to find and the Drivers Side U-Bolts to install. Then the frame will get wheeled outside and covered so the Cab can come in to get started!
I stopped at Tractor Supply and picked up 2 gallons of gear oil so I can fill both axles. I don't want them outside with out oil in them.
