That's too high.

Look at the door jamb, that's what I always go with. Every set I have put on the Tribute has gone over 60k, the factory made it to 75 or 80 if I remember correctly.

Question What about a tad bit more?

Gents,
What about inflating to 2 lbs over the suggested/recommended tire pressure as stated on the door jamb? My 2014 Escape calls for 35 lbs... an interesting pressure because that pressure is usually what any tire shop defaults to when inflating tires.

For years and years I have been following the door jamb or in some cases glove box pressure recommendations plus 2 lbs. My theory is that it is not too much of an impact on ride stiffness and it can only help economy. Arguments can be made that it could compromise wet braking of course.

What do you guys do? A tad bit over? Follow the exact PSI? Something else?

I do door jamb plus 2lbs regularly, check it every month, early morning.
Running Michelin LTX MS2 on my Exped, F150 and Escape.

The real trick is to find a gauge that you can trust.
I use a cheapo mechanical type with 0-50psi range for easier reading and dialing it in. I replace that gauge every year or so, or when the psi slider gets "sticky"...
So far so good for performance, tire wear and life span.

The crazy Escape Hybrid owners run 50-55psi and think it's great. That kind of pressure would beat me to death on my local roads.
