So hopefully someone can help me out here. I was driving my 95 F150 Eddie Bauer 4x4 back to the office when I was unable to turn it left. You can turn it all the way to the right but it will only go left until the tire is straight. Checked the power steering fluid, pulled the steering stabilizer off and that not the issue. I'm wondering it maybe it jumped a gear.
It's stranded at a gas station until I can get back to it with more tools. I have noticed it popping and creaking a lot when turning, everything has been greased.
Someone please help me I am at my wits in with this truck.
IS there any play in the steering column? I had an upper steering column bearing go out and it would turn one way but fought me to turn it the other way. Take some one else with you and climb under it as some one is turning the wheels and see what is happening underneath.
had this happen to me, on my 250 the steering box went tango uniform and needed to be r&r'd. and for what its worth I put in two auto zone reman boxes and they both had issues. ordered a red head and a saganaw pump and never looked back
the check for me was to put the front end up on jacks and try turning it then, if it turns fine its the box. (assuming the pump checks out)
