I was talking with a guy on vacation last week while on vacation. He says he uses the REV X oil additive in his Ford 350. He sang its praises but I am a little skeptical. He claims it helps in starting and lubrication with the injectors. Has anyone used this stuff? If so does it work or make a difference? Would you recommend it to others?
As pointed out there are several long threads on the subject. It did noticeably help my truck with rough idle on cold starts but the result was temporary and it's expensive.
RevX seemed to help temporary in the winter, best bet would be to check FICM out put make sure alternator and battery's are up to par and when you can fix the Injector or Injectors. According to diesel tech Ron your suppose to add it into the oil filter housing by taking the stand pipe out then pouring in that way.
it works.......at least for me it did!!! Didn't fix the bad injector that just popped up though!
Huh? It works, but it didn't fix a bad injector? So what does it do if it works then?
OP, at best, it will help some with stiction but rest assured the result will be temporary at best. What is it you think you need this stuff for? Your friend that says it works...what does he mean by "it works?"
In my experience, it helps with cold start stiction. And Archoil 9100 does exactly the same thing at less than 1/2 the price. Considering you have to continue using it or the affect will dissipate, I use the AR 9100 at every oil change.
Thanks guys for the input. I was getting the loud/long cold starts in the winter time. But after reading a couple of threads Archoil seems to be the way to go. It seems to do the same thing but this would be more affordable at half the price.
