Disclaimer:
I know nothing about Dodge/Ram trucks. IMO they're ugly. The same grill design is used on what seems like every vehicle they make. That to me makes the trucks look like a soccer mom minivan. I only threw out the Cummins data because my brother-in-law is a die-hard Cummins fanatic and will swear till the day he dies that the 5.9 is the best engine ever made. Also put it out there as a simple point of comparison. I won't comment on Dodge/Ram any more than I did.

Don't forget coolant. Last I looked, water was 8 pounds per gallon x 10.28 gallons = 82.2 pounds.

It's actually 8.33lbs/gal. so 85.63lbs

What does 13 quarts of oil weigh? 24lbs maybe? I don't know that answer.

Interested to see the new Tundra and its Cummins 5.0L turbo diesel. I'm betting the new exterior style isn't much different but interior-wise I'm sure the truck will look very good???

Does one have to change the fuel filter a lot with a diesel such as the 6.7L turbo?

My manual says MAXIMUM fuel filter change interval is 22,500 miles. Oil change MAXIMUM is 10,000 but not over 1 year between changes. I change oil every six months or about 5,000 miles and fuel filter every third oil change or about 15,000 miles. That seems to work for me. The message center will advise when to change both oil and fuel filters. Most people change both much more often than what the manual calls for in a manner the works for them. The type of driving you do will influence the change interval. i.e. heavy towing vs. daily driver.

Japanese trucks are not relevant in conversations surrounding true heavy duty work-horses like our Fords.. Sorry...

Agree but I have to give Nissan credit for installing a turbo diesel to a light duty truck.

Dodge did the same - last year...

2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel drive review | Autoweek

Sorry for the thread drift -

A long time ago, I was comparing the Cummins 5.9 to the Navistar 6.9 and found that the two had many complimentary features although neither had all of them.
One thing I was wondering was if the 6.7 uses a non-twist forging process for their crankshafts.. Does anyone know?

I do know that they use the cracked cap connecting rod design which is great in my opinion, although they cannot be rebuilt. I also wonder if they are using PM (powdered metal) in the rod construction..
