check that the tach sensor wire is not corroded, and some PCM's are sensitive to voltage, try the original set point of 1.1 volts at what speed is the eratic shifting? try turning on your flashers ( this keeps the converter in the unlocked mode) and drive the rig, can you manualy shift the trans?

4.48 V @ WOT is too high.you want 1.2 V idle and around 4 v WOT.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ions-only.html

oh no,im wrong.my bad.it's just iv never been able to get up over 4V WOT while maintaining the 1.2V idle myself.try and tweak it to read 1.2V/4.0V and see how she likes it.

the erratic shifting varies every time you drive it this e350 has no tach with 4 ways on it acts the same

ok I am at a loss I unhook my tps sensor and then the trans will shift also the trans will shift until u put about 8 miles on it and then it will not go thru the gears will stay in first gear and then it feels like it is slipping let it sit for awhile and then it shifts again I unhooked the return line to check to see if the pump was working or not and it took about 5 mins to pump out all the fluid could it be possible that I am experiencing a intermediate pump failure

if it doesn't have a tach,then how can the E40D trans know what rpms the engine is at? do you mean it has a tach sensor for the trans but just doesn't have a gauge? if there is no gauge then when the sensor frigs up with no flashing od light (like the 92-94 has) then you would need to read the codes to know if the tach sensor was working or not i guess? man.id find a gauge.
actually,what codes are you getting? i skimmed back through and i don't even see them?

you unhooked the trans cooler line and let it pump out all the fluid? why did you do that? how much time did it take to get a quart would you say?

to get a quart I would say over a minute. I pumped it out to replace the fluid and to drop the pan to check the filter to make sure it didn't drop out no gauge in the cluster idk ask ford why they didn't put in a tach theres not even a spot on the dash for it and codes 63 93 29 syptoms are as follows fast shift then a no shift loseing reverse then it comes back losing all forward gears no od unless u put it in n then back to drive then when u loss the gears if u let it sit for 20 mins they all come back

29 = Vehicle Speed Sensor problem

does your speedometer work properly?

63 = Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) signal too low

do you get the correct 5V at the signal wire with key on? and did you test the ground?

93 = Transmission TCC circuit/solenoid problem

did you inspect the solenoid pack plug?

i don't think you've got anything but a few electrical issues to sort out.i believe your a long ways off to take such extreme measures just yet.

speedo works just fine 5.05v bottom wire grond is good even ran a secondary ground to the battery code 63 is why I replaced the tps replaced the vss and the tps and all wireing to the sensors replaced all the plugs on the tranny and at the tps with new ones plz read past post I said that I had already done this but when u are driving it and u lose all the gears includeing reverse has ta be more then just electrical issuses and for the price of the solinoids I got the Allison all adaptors fly wheel and everything for only 300 bucks for that price its worth doing the swap all I am left to get is the drive shaft and a shifter and then I no longer have to worry about the tranny being the weak link to my truck I pull a heavey trail and on an average I have 8 to 10 ton on the trailer and the skid steer on the truck whitch weighs around 1 1/2 ta 2 ton so the Allison is a great upgrade
