Looking for some advice on buying a ford f350. I have been a dodge man since 1998 so I am not just buying a ford I am changing brands. This means I do not know anything about the ford truck.
I am looking at a 2012 f350 6.7 diesel with 82000km on it. What I would like to know is your real world experience on maintenance for the ford and with the milage on the truck, what should I be concerned with for known exceeded life span. I would assume at this point brakes and routers would either have been replaced or need to be replace, how about the front and rear suspensions part? Then there are injectors and turbos, what should I be thinking about?
You really didn't say what you would be using it for. If I was buying it I would want to know exactly what service had been done on the truck and when. I am pulling a heavy 5th wheel full time with mine so I purchased an ESP extended Ford warranty right at 35,000 miles (there was a recent topic posted on where to get these cheaper). I don't overload my truck and I pull to within my limits. The 6.7 has never let me down and at 44,000 miles I have total confidence in this motor and truck.
Looking at hauling a camper, around 8000pds, I know way more truck then I need but we love camping and may go with a bigger camper down the road. Plus I want to travel through canada and the us. With my 1500 I limit my trips to 500miles round trip and on,y about 4 a year.
I know the camper hauled a 5th wheel, I can see where the hitch was attached.
