IMO, I would not pay more for the plastic than what the cardboard is selling for. I've had the same cardboard box in my truck for 30 years now and it shows no wear (other than a few scrapes from removing it).
What's the benefit to paying more for plastic? Maybe the plastic will last 50 years.
I don't have a price in mind, but I've upgraded to a plastic glove box in Dad's truck. The cardboard one was ok, but it wasn't clean and couldn't be easily cleaned w/o damaging it. The plastic was easily cleaned to like-new condition. To me, plastic is the way to go.
Keep the glovebox door shut and the plastic will last forever.
Yep and mine has remained shut most of the time, but the cardboard is starting to show its age. Was going to get a new cardboard one to replace it with when I got the light group harness to add the headlight buzzer.

Plastic can rot, but I dont think the glovebox would have that issue as its not exposed to the weather. I also think ford changed their plastic composition in 1980. I know in the 70`s ford used some water based plastic composition or something akin to that, that with age would result in the plastic crumbling and turning into a white powder.

Only reason I was looking at plastic was cause I wanted to get a new glovebox out of cardboard to look better but then realized if I could get this plastic one I could clean it up and paint it with some black interior paint to make it look new.
