ignition switch recall problem
ignition switch recall problem
ok guys i have a problem(long post sorry). about 2-3 months ago i finally had the recall for the ignition switch completed on my truck. the problem is, the other night the wire that leads from the ignition switcb to the solenoid caught fire...thats right, caught fire. i thought isnt this the damn problem they issued a recall for? so then i get the truck towed to the dealership that had done the recall work. he says that they cant find the problem. two hours of searching, cant fix it. says that i have aftermarket wiring for stereo, lights, etc, wont look at it any more. now the thing that i have the biggest question about is the solenoid...see ive had the truck for 6 years now and i replaceed the solenoid about 5 years ago...i look under the hood after they did the recall..shiny new solenoid and new wire for about 6 inches. now, i question them about it and they say they didnt replace the solenoid. another question...if that wire is catching on fire...there is obviously a short. can i replace the wire from end to end and fix it? any help would be great
