Hi there;
I've the possibility to buy a cargo van E150 4,9 liters, 6 cylinders with only 31 000 miles , dated 1996.
The french dealer told me it was imported from USA and bought from US Governement.
Do you think it's possible with this low mileage from the US administration ?
Or do you think the counter is'nt credible and mileage false, in spite of the electronic counter equiped;.
Thank you to give me your advice because I'm very interested in buying it.
31,000 miles seems kinda low to me for a '96 vehicle. Don't get me wrong it's not at all impossible. Old women store there deceased husbands or sons vehicles all the time and never drive them. But, that would hardly be the case here if it is in fact a U.S. government issue vehicle. Our government branches are not known for putting their vehicles out to pasture before they have outlived their usefullness. Trust me they squeeze every last mile they can from them. The only thing I can suggest is to research the VIN to find out what you can and what you can't find out CARFAX can. I hope this helps.
Is this offer available to me? Just kidding. Go for it! Any government vehicle can be had for $250.00!!! I've got to get serious here.
Sorry about that. Listen to mustangguru. Then go from there. You might learn it's a good deal, or your worst nightmare! It's hard to get parts over there as it is for any type of American Vehicle.
Good luck....
to bruno..i bought an ex gov. f150 with 54000 miles and the gov. title stated it was true mileage...is the vehicleyour looking at going to have a gov. title?? don't think goverment would falseify mileage and be open to a law suit... ddakota
the french dealer has got an European title from Belgium and has let the american one to get the new one.
I' ve gotten the VIN but no news with that...
So why to suspect that good business from US gov. but I 'm suspicious by nature: Just I want is to get a good truck and not a ...
Thank you for your opinion;
I suppose we have to trust in all people ... even in US gov trucks...
I could see it if some dolt doesn't remember that km are smaller than miles. If the vehicle has 90,000 Km on it and they are thinking the vehicle has 90,000 miles then they would get rid of it.
I think 90,000 km is about 54,000 miles.
Does the brake petal have the corner worn off? Are the seats worn at all? Is the ignition key switch tight and secure? Is the steering wheel worn? Are the arm rests worn? Are the door hinges nice and tight? Is the door lock nice and smooth? Some of these things are items you can check. A truck with 80k+ miles will have the side of the brake petal alittle worn off.
You could very well have a good vehicle. My first-hand experiance being on U. S. military installations tells me you could have a gem, or a real peice of crap. Some of the vehicles are gutted and cannibalized for parts and left to rust. Some are almost new because they belonged to units that never or rarely used them because they didn't need them or had somthing better. The 31k isn't too shocking either. I have seen 2 1/2 ton trucks that are 25 years old with less than 200 hours on the clock! Sometimes whoever controls the funds realizes that If they don't budget money, they loose it. So why not buy a new one? Get pictures and a quote on shipping the thing over the pond. Just my 2 cents.
