I have two engines a 292y and a 352fe. The 292 smokes real bad, and the 352 is seized. Which is my better option, considering cost of a reabuild, preformance etc. (preformance is real important) or should i go for a 351w that i also have, it needs a valve job.
That's a tough one, but I think we need some more information. What's it going into, and what is causing the 352 to be seized?
I think the way to go for performance would be to bore the 352 .050 over and use 390 crank, rods and pistons. Put a performance cam in it, like the crane 343941, and you'd have a good performing engine.
Ok one of the engins is going to go into my '63 f100. cash is kindof tight so i would like to get the best for the money. and i have no idea why the 352 is seized i got it in a 66 f100 for free and did not ask alot of questions.
For a '63 F-100 I think the 352 would be perfect. They are set up for the FE in the front end, and you'd have to change the transmission and front springs if you used one of the other two. Like I said, the FE can be built up for performance, too. So that would be my choice. Tell us what you find upon teardown of the 352, if you're going that route.
Oh, so this is going in your pickup that already has the y. In that case I'd rebuild the y, it will be the cheapest and least hassle route and give you everything you want except...... performance. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice little torque engine with a great sound!
