Surprise!

So I walked by my 4 month old F250 tonight and noticed that the light reflecting off the hood looked odd. So upon further inspection I see that there are two small "indent ions" above the curve of the hood that are about 10" apart. Same height on the hood. There is also one on the other (passenger) side too. They almost look like what small haul would do but we have had none that I know of and there are no other marks anywhere else. Any ideas? They could have been there when I bought the truck and I just never noticed them until now. I'm sure PDR could get them out, but I know how expensive that can be.

Not sure what what would have caused the dents, but you are correct that the PDR should be able to remove them without much fuss. My dealer threw in a PDR warranty for "free" with my purchase, but I can't imagine it being very expensive to have them done on you own dime. Good luck getting them fixed. It sucks finding fresh dents in your new truck.

In my neck of the woods those dents are caused by walnuts. Can't avoid it.

I wait until I have at least 8 of them then I take it to my local PDR guy.

You may want to search the forum. This sounds similar to something came up awhile back. I cant recall the result.

Worse than pecans but much better than coconuts!

I can vouch for the coconuts being worse... I can't think of anything growing on a tree worse than a coconut. And some coconut palms are 30ft high with coconuts the size of a basketball around here.

Dak, you won't be able to say that much longer. You may have to refer to pictures soon to even remember what they look like!

That's exactly what mine looks like. I read that thread from a couple years ago and it seems a lot of owners have the same dents. I bet my dealer would laugh if I tried to have them fixed under warranty. What do you think?

Yeah get them to fix. Most likely you purchase the truck with those small dents.

Same Dents in my 2011

Maybe the Ford Rep can help in trying to get Ford to fix the problem Can not beleive that we all have the same dents in the same place and it is caused by falling nuts.

It may be a small issue, but when you pay as much as we do for these trucks, it is inexcusable to have flaws like that in the paint. If I bought any vehicle, I would expect the finish to be near perfect. These small dents or dimples or whatever they are are very noticeable and I am 99% sure they did not happen since I have owned the truck since March. I have been too careful. Unless they occurred, as someone said, due to a design flaw causing stress on that part of the hood. Too many people are having these dents in the same area for it to be a coincidence. I believe they were caused either by the clamps that hold the hood for alignment at the factory or possibly the welds that could have caused the metal to deform when the robots were welding the hoods.
I wish someone would ask the Ford Service Rep about this. I am too new to the Forum to do that, but somebody with this problem could. I really think this is an issue that needs explaining and fixing. I live in Texas where we have lots of pecan trees and acorns from live oaks, but these dents are not caused by nuts. Same place on both sides??
