If I replace my engine in a 62 F100, what year do I need to stay under in order to not have to add computers or other electronics to the build? I would like a nice simple carb motor with electric choke.
what size engine are you planning to use basically anything through the 70's would work and newer fuel injection engines can be converted to carb pretty easy
1985 was the last year of the carbureted 5.0 engine in the Mustang. I would imagine that would hold for most other Ford engines, too. I agree with BruteFord - better check with your state DMV to find out if they have any rules about engine "upgrades".
Installed 289/302 in 65, have never had a problem other than replacing cam and lifters; those darn hydraulic flat tappet lifters; if I were to have to replace the engine I would go w/ a later model engine w/ roller lifters and cam.
