Wierd noises

I have a 2000 Ranger XLT with a 4.0 V6 engine and when I turn on my a/c or my vent to the floor/face mix I get a really odd knocking noise. I was wondering if that noise is normal?

"Knocking noise" can mean a bunch of different stuff... Like, knocking noise coming from the vents? Might want to check and see if you have something stuck in the vent blower. Knocking from the A/C compressor probably means it's about to go dead, unless the knocking noise you're describing is the compressor clutch cycling.
