My vehicle registration cost is based on gvw.
The tare weight is used to determing cargo capacity.
Both are prominently displayed on my reg.

It had commercial plates on it when it was taken off the road.

(I know what my truck weighs)

If you are talking to me, the Fisher plow, and 2 piece frame weighs in at probably 1,200 by itself. I know the blade itself is over 750lbs...although before he beefed it up it was much lighter. It's got 3 layers of some thick steel across it front and back with the bottom of the blade seperate from the rest so it moves with the ground. He also put fatter skid plates on it to stop ripping up the ground. Add in roll bars, a rear bumper so heavy it had to be put on with a forklift and then another homemade one for winter upfront, and weight goes up fast. And 16.5" steel wheels that house 33x12.5's definitely aren't light either. Added leaf springs up front, swapped in a motor, has a C6...tis a heavy pickup truck.

Still blows my mind that he claims it "spun all 4" with it's old engine. Although from what little I have been told was done to it I can believe it. 117 octane anyone

Actually Angelo, I was replying to the OP.
He claims 4,400lbs and I am over 6,000 stock.

That's a 1,600 lb difference in basically the same truck.
I can't imagine there's that much difference between a 302 and a 460.
He has the same D44HD and 10.25 axles as me.

When I first got my 86 F250 S Cab, 351, C-6, 2wd, 8600 GVW, I had it weighed to get pass car plates. In NY at that time the truck had to be under 5000 #. No spare, no tailgate, both tanks almost empty and me out of it. Weighed 4600 pounds. When I went to the scrap yard earlier this month truck weighed out at about 5200 with me in it. Of course some weight has been lost to rust.

I believe you. Its definitely interesting to see the differences. The axles in ours are the D44HD TTB and the D60.

A 302 in stock dress I believes weighs in around 550lbs. 460s are just under 900 from what I remember.

I wonder how much of that came from the frames weight savings.

Yes. As far I am aware, even the cab and chassis DRW F350 had this type frame in 1980.
